Who we are
1984 : July, Creation of the company. After several food deliveries by boat between Marseille and the Frioul Islands, Jean-Michel Icard and its small boat called “ Lou Gabian” had created their “small business «without even realizing it.
A few months later, the “Vaillant” allowed them to diversify deliveries and to “contribute” to the restoration of the Chateau d’If.
1987 : the business and the “Vieux Plongeur” shop associated to create the diving center “Les Plaisirs de la Mer”. From then onwards, Icard Maritime has been carrying out the transport of all divers all along the coastline.
1997 : Arrival of “Revelatta 1” to increase passenger transport.
2000 : the Economic Interest Grouping (GIE) Marseille Côté Mer was launched on Quai Marcel Pagnol. It brought together 8 partners based on the Vieux Port, one of which being Icard Maritime.
2004 : MPM entrusted our company with the management and transport of the ECUM, the official car ferry to and from the Frioul Islands.
2005 : The “Chourmo”, a rapid speedboat, increased the carrying capacity of passenger transport and allowed to ensure tricky boarding and landing on the If island whatever the weather. One year later, the “discovery of the calanques” and the discovery of the harbour tours were organized with the help of Marseille Tourist Information Centre. In the wake of this initiative, Icard Maritime won the tender launched by both the Tourist Information Centre and MPM and became one of the favoured stakeholders in sea transport.
2007 : the “Aiglon 3”, a rapid passenger speedboat is then specifically devoted to boat trips. Thanks to its optimal carrying capacity, its speed, its comfort and its easy integration into the protected seascape, it turned into a main asset to discover the calanques between Marseille and Cassis.
2012 : Launching of “Hélios”. While worrying increasingly about the protection of the visited coastal sites, Icard Maritime managed to carry out its important project i.e. “Hélios”, the only integrates electric propulsion boat allowed in the calanques.
Therefore, thanks to its work of sea transport, the “small business” employs today over twenty people.
Icard Maritime has become one of the players of Marseille’s economic and touristic development.
